About

I'm François Blanchard, a geospatial engineer. I'm a French guy, born in Germany, raised in Belgium and based in Spain. Had to get into maps to keep track 🤷

I started working with GIS and cartography in 2013. I've worked on urban planning, spatial accessibility and environmental modelling at both local and regional scales. Along the way, I got deeper into the software and data infrastructure behind the maps. I'm the kind of cook who needed to understand how the stove works.

I now design databases, build automated pipelines, and develop GIS software, all with the same goal: making geographic data accessible and easy to explore.

This website is where I share my notes and experiments.
